The Santa Cruz County Environmental Health Division lobby is currently open for business by appointment only. You may request an appointment to meet with staff to discuss a matter or with our Administrative Support staff to submit an application and make a payment. To request an appointment either send us an email or call 454-2022. Email is checked regularly during business hours Monday through Friday. We continue to encourage you to use email to conduct business.

For documents that cannot be emailed, there is a secure drop-off box on the first floor of 701 Ocean Street. Look for the drop-off box with a sign labeled ‘Building, Planning, and Environmental Health’. Forms, applications and other information can be found on this website.

Effective Monday, July 27, 2020, Santa Cruz County was added to the California COVID-19 watch list due to rising cases in the county. All indoor operations in the following must close until further notice: dine-in restaurants, wineries and tasting rooms, movie theatres, family entertainment centers, zoos and museums and cardrooms. Bars, brewpubs, breweries, and pubs must close all operations both indoor and outdoor. Additionally, gyms and fitness centers, places of worship and cultural ceremonies, offices for non-critical infrastructure, presonal care services, hair and barber shops and shopping malls must close unless modified to operate outside. Body art facilties and electolysis operations cannot be operated outdoors and must close.

Permits will not be issued until both payment and any required signed documents are submitted.
